This is the independent WEB site for the Society Hill at Piscataway Condominium Association, located in Piscataway, NJ. This site is not sponsored, endorsed, or supported by the Association, the Board of Trutees, or the Managment Company. It is run by a former member of the Board of Trustees.

Much of the content from the prior Association's WEB site has been moved here. However, since this site is not connected to the management systems, it no longer supports on-line service requests, reminders, on-line payments and account history, and owner/tenant/vehicle updating.

If you are looking for the Association's official new WEB site, they don't really have one - it's just a payment portal for the monthly fees.

BOT Meeting Tuesday April 15 8PM - Cat out of Bag by Kevin Wine, Apr 14, 2025, 8:28 PM, reply, branch, edit

I assume a community email went out last week announcing the April 15th Board of Trustees meeting. In case you missed it, the meeting is both in-person at the clubhouse, and on ZOOM:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7166537709?omn=87474646348

The cat is finally out of the bag on agenda item "F" (below). This was kept under wraps (not my decision) so it might come as a good, or not-so-good, surprise to many owners. The Board seems to intentionally not want feedback on this topic - so much for their claims of "transparency". If you have thoughts on the topic, this meeting is your only opportunity.

A. Electronic Voting/Communication Form
B. Pool Updates - Pool Committee - Pool Hours - Pool Rules
C. Ratify Tru Green - turf treatment 3x per year
D. Ratify Meter Stack Proposal - All City Electrical
E. Ratify Rental of Community Dumpster - Hometown Waste & Recycling
F. Ratify New Management Company

I have been very busy with work the last several months so I have not had the bandwidth to deal with much else. There is a lot going on internally here in the Hill, but most of it is behind the scenes. This is not the way I would (or have) run it but I don't have control over the transparency at the moment.

To spare everyone all the gory details, I will just say that there remain deep philosophical differences amongst the trustees on how the Association should be run. There will be another election starting in a few months so all the owners will have another opportunity to voice their opinion. As it usually the case, who thinks how will be made very clear.

I have often heard the line "things are different now than they were in 1986 when the place was built", as justification for re-interpreting various governing document rules. Well, that is true - things have changed. Now we have access to the internet, ZOOM, smart phones, WEB sites, and social media. Things are possible now that weren't possible in 1986. For example, today it would be possible to abolish the Board of Trustees and just have all the owners participate and vote directly in the monthly meetings. We already do this where I work - the monthly union meetings are ~100 people on a zoom call, making motions and voting right then and there. We could easily find some way to accommodate the few residents that don't have internet/computers, and do this here. That would solve the transparency problem and the disconnect between what the owners want and what the Board seems to think the owners want.
